Golden Pencil Award for “Eugene Green”

Michael Hill’s Screen Australia funded animation The Not-So-Great Eugene Green has won a Golden Pencil Award at the 2D or Not 2D Animation Festival in Seattle USA. This is the 5th Award for the AFI Nominated film, which premiered at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2009.

Screen Sound Award Win

At the 12th ASSAG Awards our Sound Designer Markus Kellow and Sound Mixer Doron Kipen from Music & Effects won the Australian Screen Sound Award in the Short Animation Category, for their work on The Not-So-Great Eugene Green. This is Markus Kellow’s 2nd award for his work on The Not-So-Great Eugene Green. Earlier in the year he won Best Sound Design at the In The Bin Film Festival. For more information visit www.assg.org.au

Screen Sound Award Nomination

Markus Kellow (Sound Designer, Foley Artist & Pre-Mixer), along with Doron Kipen from Music & Effects (Sound Mixer) have been nominated for an Australian Screen Sound Award in the Short Animation Category, for their work on The Not-So-Great Eugene Green. Good things come in threes – In The Bin…

The short animation The Not-So-Great Eugene Green has scooped up 3 Awards at the In The Bin Short Film Festival in QLD, where it won Best Animation, Best Sound Design (Markus Kellow) and Best Production Values.  Director Michael Hill and Producer Melanie Brunt are thrilled as this is the first award for the animation, which premiered in June 2009 at the Sydney Film Festival.

This marks the third win for Melanie Brunt at this festival; the short film Dugong which she produced won Best Film, Best Actor (Luke Elliot) and Best Actress (Sue Jones) in 2008; and her VCA film Rain, which she wrote, directed and edited won Best Film there in 2001.

The Not-So-Great Eugene Green has been nominated for a AFI Award for Best Animation, and will screen in Adelaide at the Shorts Film Festival in December.

ATOM Award Finalists

Both The Not-So-Great Eugene Green and Lessons From The Night are finalists in the 2009 TV Enhance ATOM Awards, held on 23rd October in Melbourne. The Not-So-Great Eugene Green is an 13 minute animation directed by Michael Hill. Lessons From The Night is a 9 minute documentary directed by Adrian Francis. Both films are produced by Melanie Brunt. For more information check out the ATOM Awards website – www.atomawards.org
